My hosting provider finally fixed the upload issue, so the statistics for week 2 are now available. Sorry again for the delay.
Due to an issue with my hosting provider, I’m not able to upload the data for week 2. My provider told me it could be a couple of days before the issue is resolved. It’s not the timely problem resolution I was expecting, so I will be using a new hosting provider after the season (if not sooner).
I’m sorry for the delay. I’ll have the week 2 data posted as soon as I can.
As in the past, cfbstats.com has partnered with thewizofodds.com to look at the impact of rule changes intended to shorten the length of college football games. The data from week 1 of the 2008 season is in, and so far both the number of plays and the time of game have been reduced compared to 2007.
The average plays per game is down from 2007, but not quite down to the 2005 level. The average length of games is near the 2005 level.
This was just the first week of games, so the numbers can change. We’ll keep tracking them as the season moves along.
